Overview
Osprey Inspection conducted the first field test of the DJI Agras agricultural drone in Norway, in partnership with Romvesen and NIBIO (the Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research). The Agras platform is purpose-built for precision crop application — spraying, granular spreading and high-throughput field work — and the test evaluated how the platform performs under Norwegian agricultural conditions.
About the Agras platform
DJI Agras is a heavy-lift agricultural UAV designed for precision spraying and granular spreading. Centimetre-grade RTK positioning, terrain-following radar and intelligent flow control allow the drone to apply liquid or solid product at controlled rates across fields with uneven topography. Compared with conventional ground equipment, Agras can cover terrain that is inaccessible to tractors — wet ground, slopes, terraced fields — without compaction damage.

Why this matters
Norwegian agriculture has unique constraints — small fragmented fields, steep terrain, short growing windows, strict regulations on spray drift and watercourse buffer zones. Agricultural drones offer precise, low-impact application that can extend the operating envelope where ground equipment is impractical or harmful to soil structure. This field test produced baseline performance data that informs how the platform fits into Norwegian farming workflows.
