Overview

Possibly the world's first cargo drone lift on live critical infrastructure. Osprey Inspection participated in the safe removal of a potential falling object located at the very top of a flare tip at an onshore processing facility — without personnel at height and without shutting down the live plant.

The operation was led by our partner Romvesen together with AF DECOM, with Osprey contributing drone based execution and inspection support.

Why this matters

  • Conventional removal would have required scaffolding to the flare tip — a major lift, long planning lead-time, and elevated personnel risk
  • Alternative would have been a full plant shutdown — significant production loss and revenue impact
  • Drone-based cargo lift removed the object safely, on a live asset, with zero personnel at height
  • Demonstrates a new operating envelope for drone services on critical infrastructure

Outcome

Object successfully removed. Zero personnel injury risk. Zero production downtime. The operation sets a new reference for drone-assisted intervention on live critical infrastructure.
