Overview
Possibly the world's first cargo drone lift on live critical infrastructure. Osprey Inspection took part in safely removing a potential falling object from the very top of a flare tip at an onshore processing facility, with no personnel working at height and no shutdown of the live plant.
The operation was led by our partner Romvesen, working alongside AF DECOM. Osprey handled the drone-based execution and inspection support.
Why this matters
- Conventional removal would have meant scaffolding all the way to the flare tip: a major lift, a long lead-time to plan, and real risk to anyone working at height
- The other option was a full plant shutdown, with significant production loss and revenue impact
- The drone-based cargo lift got the object off safely, on a live asset, with nobody working at height
- It shows what's now possible for drone services on critical infrastructure that can't come offline

Outcome
The object came off clean: no injuries, no downtime. It's a solid reference point for drone-assisted intervention on live critical infrastructure.
Operation delivered in partnership with Romvesen (lead) and AF DECOM.
