Overview

Osprey Inspection field tested the DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise Multispectral courtesy of Boston Group A/S. Originally planned for forestry and agricultural mapping, the platform demonstrated capability well beyond that — and now serves as a multifunctional addition to our drone fleet.

What multispectral captures

The multispectral cameras record reflectance across wavelengths beyond what the human eye can see. By analysing how light reflects off vegetation, the data reveals plant health, soil condition and stress indicators that standard RGB imagery cannot — making it ideal for crop monitoring, forestry health assessment and environmental surveys.

Strengths in field use

  • Ultra-fast mapping of large areas — what surprised us most. Coverage rate is significantly higher than typical inspection drones
  • RGB camera with mechanical shutter — eliminates rolling-shutter distortion in fast-moving mapping flights
  • Real-Time Kinematics (RTK) — centimetre-grade positional accuracy on every captured frame
  • Multispectral wavelengths reveal vegetation stress, plant health and soil condition
  • Highly portable platform — quick deployment for ad-hoc surveys

Where this fits in our service mix

Multispectral capability complements our existing drone services — particularly for forestry, agriculture, environmental monitoring, large-area mapping, and use cases where vegetation analysis or rapid wide-area orthophoto coverage is needed.
